Sober Companions and Recovery Coaches
Recovery coaches, sober escorts and sobriety coaches are different terms used to describe sober companions. For the newly recovering addict not in a residential treatment facility, staying sober can be difficult. Herein enters the sobriety coach, who provides one-on-one assistance to individuals recovering from addiction.
A sobriety coach can help an addict maintain sobriety, reduce harm and develop beneficial regimens at home or after leaving a treatment facility. Some residential treatment centers in Asia offer their own sober companionship services to their outpatients, hence providing companions that are affiliated to a medical or a clinical team.
Due to the unregulated nature of the sector, practitioners may be licensed as a mental health professional, or have just limited experience in the field to work as sober companions.
